Utility surveys involves locating existing utilities, both above and below ground, on a given property. This type of land survey is performed in order to come up with what is called the XYZ location. XYZ location represents northing, easting, and elevation. X stands for northing, Y stands for easting, and Z stands for elevation. These three coordinates are used in sync to give an exact position regarding the location of the utilities.
It is important to be able to locate any utilities that may exist on a property because if any renovations or construction is to be performed, the location of the utilities needs to be known so you don't hit a power line or other utility line.
